Deaf Awareness training sessions are designed to provide participants with a greater understanding of deaf life and culture, as well as looking at the issues commonly faced by the deaf community. The sessions provide an insight into the deaf world and offer simple, practical suggestions for ensuring more effective communication strategies which will help to break down barriers.
We will also look at the social and medical aspects of deafness as well as providing a brief introduction to finger spelling and sign language.
Deaf Awareness sessions are presented by a deaf adult (along with an interpreter) and usually last for 3 hours, although shorter sessions can be arranged on request.
The sessions are delivered in a relaxed, friendly manner and participants are encouraged to offer comments and to ask questions.
Online groups of any size are welcome, with a total cost of £150 per group for each session.
Individuals are welcome to join Deaf Awareness courses and the next presentation will be on Friday January 12th 2024 from 3-6pm. The cost for this course is £45 per person (payment in advance). A certificate of attendence will be issued to all participants. Please book your place using our website as places are limited. This course is subject to numbers. The course will be offered online but those who prefer face to face sessions will be welcome to join us at our office in Stratford.
Training can either be delivered through Zoom or in person, or through a combination of online and in person if this is more suitable.
Please contact us at [email protected] for further information. We will be happy to help and can tailor the presentations to suit any organisation.
